An Early Morning
I had a dream that woke me early today.
I had a duplex, but not my current duplex, where I was living in one side and renting the other. I was working some small project and looking up, I saw the whole house was coming apart.
Walls swung out from the floor, floors pitched, chimney bricks and plaster rained down. I was on the second floor and it pancaked down on top of the first.
I think it means this: I'm worried something outside of my control is going to upend my world, whether it's my relationship or my work.
Things happen outside of our control all the time, it's called Life, so Not Sure what to do with this.
Some time before I bought it, my current duplex once suffered a termite invasion. There was one badly-eaten joist and a compressed sill when I bought it & which I replaced. After this dream, I went from room to room tapping the walls with the heel of my hand and then into the basement to scrutinize the beams. I have to tell myself, it is an old house and that means it does not have everything perfectly-symmetrical like new houses.
I curse myself not for rental property buying, but for buying this place - a region with a shrinking economy, a dying city with terrible schools, high taxes and crime that make business leaders flee. Lessons learned.
Then on to power up the p.c. & write this entry.
